LP, another multifamily developer,
have been designated by the
Roosevelt Island Operating
Corporation to develop Riverwalk,
a new 2,000 unit, nine building
village. Located in the middle
of New York City’s
East River, opposite Manhattan’s
Upper East Side, the site
will offer unsurpassed views
of all of New York, especially
Manhattan’s Eastern
waterfront in an environment
of tranquility and open space
virtually unknown in the
rest of the City.
475 Main Street
, completed in July 2003,
contains 256 apartments which
were built as staff housing
for Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center. The building
also includes a health club
and day care center. 465
Main Street, completed in
October 2003, contains 136
apartments built as staff
housing for Weill Cornell
Medical College. The building
also includes a health club,
kid’s play room and
roof terrace. Both buildings
were designed by Gruzen Samton
Architects and SLCE Architects.
The next building
in Riverwalk, Riverwalk Place
is a condominium, currently
under development.
