1490 Dumont Avenue is a 176-unit low income rental building, situated in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn. When complete, the building will stand 9 stories tall and encompass about 172,000 gross square feet. Developed in conjunction with the NYC Housing Development Corporation, NYC Dept. of Housing, Preservation and Development, NYC Housing Trust Fund, NYC Acquisition Loan Fund, NYSERDA and the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, this will be the first LAMP in Brooklyn with solar panels.
Additionally, there will be a 6,000 square foot enclosed, landscaped courtyard for the residents as well as a play area for children. 44 surface parking spaces will also be provided, as well as dishwashers in every apartment and a large laundry facility and community space with kitchen. An enclosed, secured bike storage facility will be in the building with capacity for 88 bicycles.
Household incomes will range from $16,000 to $46,000 including 20% of the units to be set aside for formerly homeless tenants. Services will be provided on-site for Formerly Homeless tenants through CAMBA, a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization. With a strong commitment to sustainable development, the project will be certified into the Enterprise Green Communities Program, as well as provide EnergyStar applicances to all households.
